The Welcome project will be situated in the former Rizzoli industrial area, aiming to revitalize the abandoned space into a hub that integrates people and nature for improved quality of life and work. Key features include zero CO2 emissions, renewable energy usage, consumption monitoring, water recycling, incorporation of greenery and endemic species into the architectural design, and a focus on human-scale and sensory experiences. This development spans over 50,000 square meters, comprising six interconnected buildings designed to maximize natural light and flexibility, descending like amphitheaters toward the park. The architecture combines concrete for foundations and basements with steel and wood above ground, while energy sustainability is ensured through a system that integrates heating and cooling with extensive photovoltaic panel usage. The multifunctional space includes offices, auditoriums, co-working areas, meeting halls, restaurants, shops, a supermarket, wellness facilities, and spaces for events and exhibitions. The design emphasizes seamless integration between indoor and outdoor areas, public and private spaces, and work and leisure activities. Green elements such as vegetation-rich squares, open-air courts, terraces with gardens, and specialized greenhouses contribute to the project's permeable and accessible nature.
