The project will cover a total surface area of 35,000 square meters, reaching a height of 61 meters at its highest point. It will accommodate biochemistry and molecular biology laboratories, advanced scientific instruments including optical microscopes, space for expanding the cryo-electron microscopy facility, and up to 800 researcher workstations. Additionally, it will feature large common areas, meeting rooms, and event/classrooms. The Campus area design aims to maintain continuity with surrounding Decumanus and Cardo spaces while preserving a visual link with Palazzo Italia, integrating it into the public space. The new building will consist of two functional and flexible volumes centered around the Common Ground, serving as the hub for activities. This central space will distribute laboratories and offices across ten interconnected floors, creating new aggregation and relaxation spaces up to the roof. The first to ninth floors will house laboratories and administrative offices, while the top floor will include refreshment areas, training classrooms, meeting rooms, management offices, and terraces accessing the green roof. The asymmetrical pitched green roof with south-facing terraces offers views of Milan and contributes to water control and renewable energy production via a photovoltaic system, aligning with the green design approach.
