CityWave

CityLife - General Real Estate / Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG)

CityWave will operate solely on renewable energy sources, marking the first office building to surpass net zero impact and aim for a "positive impact" on the environment. The building will feature 11,000 square meters of photovoltaic panels, generating approximately 1.3 MWh of energy annually with an installed power capacity nearing 2 MWh. Compared to a building of equivalent size, CityWave's energy consumption is projected to be around 45% lower, resulting in an annual reduction of 500 tons of CO2 emissions, equivalent to the carbon absorbed by approximately 20,000 trees. The building will employ advanced energy and water management strategies, including the utilization of groundwater for thermal purposes and the collection and reuse of rainwater. Furthermore, its envelope will consist of modular triple-glazed facade elements, ensuring high standards of energy performance. CityWave's commitment to sustainability and quality of life is evident through its attainment of three international sustainability certifications at the highest levels. Notably, it has received WiredScore Platinum certification, making it the first building in Italy to do so. Additionally, it has achieved pre-certifications for Well v2 Core Platinum and Leed Core Shell v4 Platinum, making it the sole building in Italy to obtain these three prestigious international certifications at the highest level.
