Casa BFF

BFF Bank SpA / Open Building Research Srl

The building is set back from the street alignment to create a new civic space overlooked by the entrance hall, auditorium, and art gallery. This space is defined by a 40-meter-high portico supporting a large solar canopy. Its standout feature is the Energetic Flying Carpet, a geometric figure visible from above, comprising 2,600 square meters of photovoltaic panels generating 360 Megawatt hours of energy. This canopy serves as both a passive and active device, providing shelter from inclement weather while also generating energy for the building and its surroundings. The project achieves LEED Platinum certification, prioritizing community integration and energy efficiency. The project emphasizes open spaces, including an Agora created from underground tunnels, fostering community engagement and urban renewal. The Flying Carpet serves as both an architectural element and a shelter for the Agora, enhancing the building's functionality and community appeal. The rooftop features a restaurant and panoramic terrace designed as a communal space for city viewing. Interiors offer high reconfigurability and personalization, ensuring adaptability to diverse layouts, including relaxing indoor-outdoor areas. The new structure will benefit the entire city of Milan, creating a new urban square by redeveloping the open area adjacent to the building. It introduces new cycling paths, and establish a pedestrian walkway connecting CityLife and Monte Stella, thus connecting two currently separated areas of the city.
