Technology to help individuals with mobility challenges assists the movement ambulation of individuals with certain types of mobility issues such as difficulty walking a certain distance, climbing stairs, carrying an object for a short distance or standing in line for a long period of time. To use it, the user needs to be able to initiate basic mobility movements, walk a short distance with or without an assistance device, and have sufficient balance. It reads the body position and movements, and interprets the mobility intentions to help the user along the way. It does not initiate any movement but waits for the user’s lead. Once the user make the first move, it provides him/her with the leg power the user need at any given time according to the activity, so that the user can regain him/her independence.
